Aptana recap: Aptana Studio 1.1.1 patch released

Earlier this week, the Aptana team released the first patch for Aptana Studio 1.1. This patch should be available to all users now as the "1.1.1" release.

New Release

As mentioned above, we released Aptana Studio 1.1.1 earlier this week. This patch release contains fixes for issues with character encoding, code assist for the prototype library, and a number of other bug fixes. Concurrently, we also released Jaxer 0.9.1, which contains several bug fixes for the Jaxer server.

In upcoming weeks, we're planning to make "nightly" builds available to our Pro users on a more regular basis. Our current goal is to make new releases available at least once a week so that our Pro users have access to frequent updates and improvements.

Community Buzz

Many of our users have been asking about Jaxer integration with Apache Tomcat. The follow page describes how to add Jaxer support to Tomcat:

Tips and Tricks

We're aware that some of our users are running into problems when they try to upgrade Aptana Studio, such as problems with downloads failing and network swamping. We can assure you that we're working very hard to investigate various solutions. Unfortunately, this issue has multiple causes, which is why we haven't been able to fix the problem for everyone sooner. Carter Sanders, our build and release engineer, wrote a very informative post with details about some of the causes, what we're looking at doing to fix them, and possible workarounds:

Next week

Next week, we plan to make another "nightly" release with more bug fixes available to our Pro users. We're also starting to plan for our next major Aptana Studio release--Aptana Studio 1.2. As always, we encourage our users to voice their opinions via feature requests in ASAP as we plan for this release.
