Software Engineer: Infrastructure

Aptana is looking for a developer with a passion for building distributed applications and infrastructure components. You will be joining a small team of very smart engineers who are looking to change the way web applications are deployed and managed.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and own core infrastructure components for robust, reliable, and scalable hosting infrastructure
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various systems
  • Pro-actively look for ways to improve the way applications are deployed and managed
  • Interface with product, front-end, and operations teams
  • Rapidly fix issues and solve problems
  • Interact with customers on a daily basis so as to better understand their infrastructure needs
  • Help build a world-class team of brilliant developers

Requirements

  • B.S. Computer Science
  • Experience developing and debugging in on *nix platforms
  • Strong ruby development experience plus experience with Java or C/C++
  • Experience building large-scale web applications and infrastructure
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Good understanding of internet protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, and DNS
  • Strong knowledge of database design and performance
  • Exposure to Cloud based infrastructure and APIs
  • 3 or more years of related experience

Location

This is a full-time position at Aptana's headquarters in San Mateo, CA.

Aptana, Inc. is conveniently located right at the Highway 101 and Highway 92 interchange.

We are about a 10 minute bike ride from the Hillsdale CalTrain station.
